So I know

You haven’t heard from us in a while. That’s our bad. Don’t get upset. 

First I’d like to dispel the rumors that we’re breaking up. Yeah, I know what you’re going to say, we’re the ones who spread those rumors in the first place, but let’s move past that, okay?

There’s been some changes here in the land of Derailer. Things were crazy for a while as we got a fourth member and everybody was scattered and across northwest and north central indiana. 

Well we’re back to being a three piece now, but it’s a slightly different three piece, as Zack has left and is being replaced by our good friend Tony Baran. We’re parting with Zack on amicable terms, and he still lives with me, stinking up the bathroom and drinking too much (just kidding, zack’s mom). 

I’m very excited about the future of the band. We’ve written some new songs, and we’re really excited to record at some point this year. There’s talks of a split with some friends of ours and hopefully we’ll finally be able to nail down a vinyl release, along with some sort of touring.

Plus, we’re all pretty heavy drinkers now, so that can only be a good thing. Right?

News and stuff!

So, I just wanted to clear something up really quick.  I know I make probably just as many jokes about Derailer breaking up as I do about me breaking edge, but the the truth is, I only drink root beer, and Derailer isn’t going anywhere.

I moved to Lafayette, and I’m far as fuck, and Larry just recently moved to Valpo, and Zack is going to be starting college in the spring and things might slow down for us, but we have no plans to stop being a band and to stop making music together.

In fact, we’ve got some exciting news. I’ve told a bunch of people about this already, so I guess I can finally spill the beans on a public forum. Derailer is adding our good friend, Mike Seman-Szymendera to the mix on the drums! Mike is a great drummer and he’s filled in for Derailer twice now before becoming a full time member. He’s coming with a fresh take on our older songs, and a great new energy for all the new songs we’ll be writing.

As for Larry? Well, you know we couldn’t leave him behind, and I’m super stoked to have him out from behind the kit and joining me on guitar!

We’ve been working on getting our set together and we’re all really excited. So excited that we’ve got two shows coming up back to back in a few weeks! One is at my house and the other is Indy with A Wilhelm Scream, Junior Battles, and our bff’s in It’s All Happening. Check it out, cuz it’s all gone be rad!

Upcoming shows!

Hey guys, we’ve got a bunch of really cool upcoming shows with some awesome touring bands, and we’re all pretty excited about them.

First up is July 9th with our friends Rational Anthem. We’ve played with these fools for two years in a row, and we’re going for a threepeat. Like MJ. That’s gonna be in Highland, hopefully we’ll have more info on that soon. 

Then on the 11th we’ll be in Cal City at the Like Bats practice space with Peeple Watchin’ and Like Bats. Peeple Watchin’ has ex-members of the Credentials who are one of my favorite pop punk bands ever, and this is going to be sick.

A few days later, we’ll be in Chicago (I told you people like us now! You never listen to me) with a band from Boston called the Young Leaves. It’s gonna be a busy week and a ton of fun. 

Also, as an extra bonus, we should have copies of a new compilation tape containing tracks from our first two releases. Nothing insanely awesome, but still pretty cool and they’ll be cheap, so if you missed out on picking up either of the first two ep’s (which are sold out now), then this might be rad to have.

July 11th at the Like Bats practice space in Calumet City, Illinois with Like Bats and Peeple Watchin’ from Boston.

and

July 14th at Space Jam in Chicago with the Young Leaves from Massachusetts and Options.

Both of these are going to rule. And since people like us now, they should be super fun.
